Alfred Kordelin Foundation relocates to Yrjönkatu in Helsinki city centre, Ecorum led the project

The Alfred Kordelin Foundation was founded in 1918 to promote and support Finnish science, literature, art and public education. During the last operating year, the total amount of the foundation’s grants and awards was approximately 5.6 million euros.

After a previously completed property transaction, the foundation had moved to temporary premises on Töölönkatu and was looking for a permanent office space in Helsinki city centre. As time passed and the effort did not produce fully satisfactory results, Ecorum was assigned to boost the premises search.

As a result, Ecorum soon identified well suited office premises for the foundation at Yrjönkatu 16. The historic building, located between Bulevardi and Uudenmaankatu, had already been mostly renovated to meet the needs of modern users. The location was very central, and thus facilitates the foundation’s operations. The historic building was completed in 1897 featuring exceptionally tall rooms and wonderfully decorated stairwells, which make the building architecturally and historically valuable. The foundation will occupy the second floor of the building and the new premises will be ready in April 2023.
